Ruby Princess which is linked to over 20 cruise coronavirus deaths in Australia is planning to resume cruises within the coming months.

Carnival Cruise Line said it will resume cruising in August. This is nearly five months after the coronavirus pandemic halted all cruising worldwide.

But North America will be the only area to benefit from these new sailings. Australian cruises may start at the end of August.

The Ruby Princess, hosted one of Australia’s worst cruise coronavirus outbreaks. As well as the fatalities, over 600 infections have been traced to letting the ship dock at Sydney to disembark passengers in March.

Any resumption would comply with public health regulations, the company said.

It is not yet certain that cruise ships will be allowed to sail by this date, and even less certain how many passengers are likely to want to travel by cruise ship before the pandemic is under control. Also social distancing is likely to be an issue, particularly in areas such as the Casino, Theatre and Bars.
