JANE MCDONALD has announced that she will be stepping down from her role as presenter on Cruising With Jane McDonald, Channel 5. She spoke about why she made the surprising decision to take a break from the series.

Jane has hosted the series Cruising with Jane Mcdonald since 2017 but she told the This Morning program, she told the time was right to step aside. Susan Calman will be taking over. She thanked Channel 5 and then opened up on what’s coming up next for her.

She told the hosts: “It is time to step aside, pass the baton on and go and do new things

“I have had the most amazing time and I thank Channel 5.

“It has been wonderful, it really, really has.”

She added: “I have a joy and passion for cruising which is why, leave the party when you’re having fun.

“I love it with a passion and I will always be associated with it.”

Jane is hoping to charter her own cruise ship with Floating Festivals which will see her perform two big shows.

She added: “This year is so exciting, I have so many wonderful things happening this year.

“I’m going on tour, I have a massive tour, it’s where I love to be.”

“I still have Jane and friends and a new series of Cruising that I’m still filming.

“I’m not leaving television,” she reassured her fans.

Jane also pointed out that her fiance Eddie Rothe is one of the reasons she is stepping back from the series as they spend too much time apart.

“I have been away a lot, I’m only giving up travelling not television,” she explained.

It comes after Jane announced in a statement last week: “By now you will have seen the news about me stepping away from my shows on Channel 5.

“It’s been an incredible four and a half years of travelling, 38 Cruises and over 100 flights.

“It’s now time for me to spend some time in the UK, concentrate on my music and tours and exciting new projects.

“I want to offer my most sincere thanks to everyone who has worked on all my shows.

“Everyone at Channel 5 and Viacom International Studios who have all helped make the most incredible and successful programmes.

“It’s been a total joy to work with everyone and thank you very much to everyone who has watched and supported the shows. I have had a blast!”

Earlier it was announced comedian Susan would be stepping in to replace Jane on the cruising series.

Susan said of her new role: “I’m over the moon to be working with Channel 5 on such a prestigious group of shows.

“I can’t wait to go on exciting voyages and incredible journeys and take the wonderful viewers with me. It’s the start of a magnificent chapter and I can’t wait to get going.”
